Newton-Conover Rescue Squad

PO Box 488  Newton, NC 28658

The Newton Conover Rescue Squad proudly serves the cities of Newton and Conover, located in central Catawba County, North Carolina. It is our responsibility to provide Basic Life Support first response service to the citizens and guests of our district.  We also provide extrication and rescue services and operate two BLS ambulances that are staffed by volunteers to assist Catawba County EMS when additional transport units are required.

We operate a medium duty rescue truck, two light rescue trucks and two BLS ambulances and a boat out of two bases:  Base 1 is our main base and is at 337 East "A" Street in Newton.  Base 2 is shared space in the City of Conover Fire Department Station # 1 located at the intersection of Highway 70 and Thornburg Drive in Conover.  In addition to our apparatus, our members are issued equipment to handle most medical calls.  This equipment includes: Oxygen, Epi-Pens, glucometers, and an array of first aid supplies.  Several of our members also carry automatic external defibrillators, or AED's, for use on cardiac arrest patients.

Some of our members have careers in the emergency services field, while others work in various aspects of private industry.  The dedication, compassion and knowledge of this unique group of individuals have enabled us to become a part of one of the most progressive EMS systems in the state.
